Chelsea have surprisingly added another friendly to their fixture calendar with it being announced that they will take on National League side Weymouth FC.

The fifth-tier outfit confirm the news on Friday evening, with the game set to take place behind-closed-doors at Chelsea's Cobham training centre on Sunday, August 15.

Weymouth manager Brian Stock said: “I was contacted by Carlo Cudicini (loans manager) regarding a potential fixture on a weekend we were struggling for a fixture.

“Given the fact our league starts later than any other league trying to find a fixture was proving difficult.

“We were delighted to accept the invitation against regular senior first-team players and give our squad of players that vital tough test leading into our first league game of the season.”
